Why So Furious?

While I don't bake any goodies for animals to enjoy (yet?), the name for my baking venture comes from my late cat, Furybash, who was always affectionately raging with a sharp, pointy love--language of claws and teeth, and a 24/7 purr--box that ran on its own hifi amplifier. He was furious, but bashful -- hence, his name -- and his permanent state of kitten--mode would often test my patience, leading to the shortened, but warmhearted yelling of “FURY!!” His furious love mirrored my love of baking science, though, so while I would often “bake with Fury" running zoomies through the house, I would also bake, with fury. Thus, Fury Bake was born. (Circa 2012.)

Furybash and his brother Jasco, both rescues from Boston MSPCA, lived long, happy and healthy lives, bringing joy and comfort to me -- as I would say, "They helped me survive my entire twenties." Their playtime may have ended on earth, but the unexpected impact they had on my life, and how I hope to impact and connect with other lives through yummy, wholesome food, lives on through Fury Bake.

Hailey's Pie Journey

Starting a bakery was always a distant dream that I had since college. I started baking and cooking around age 10, but from the time I first attempted to make pie dough at age 19 and failed miserably, I became obsessed with the science and craft of perfecting pastry. Being the hopeless perfectionist that I always was didn’t help, either.

A few years later, I finally honed my very own crust recipe that got people talking -- except at the table. They were too busy eating my pies. (It’s  actually funny to watch an entire social party fall silent to just “mmm”--grunts and forks clanking for 5 minutes straight.) My mom once called it, Pâte Brisée de Jasco -- after my other cat -- so that's what I officially named my recipe.

After moving to Texas in 2020, I wanted everyone to enjoy the holidays despite the challenges at the time, so I offered to fill some tables for family and friends. It wasn't too long after that I was getting Zelle payments and requests from outer circles. The state’s latest Cottage Food laws make it all the more worthwhile to share all my furiously-loved creations with everyone else --- and, without the overhead of going commercial! Although, that's still on the checklist. Thank you, Texas. :D

Bottom line: I’m happy I get to bring even more people together for "sweet" memories.

I strive to feed the soul. I’m an artist --- it’s in my nature.
